Chumash Charm Stone/ Plummet

I have had a lot of people look at this and most believe it to be a charm stone or plummet from the California area. It is 8 1/2" long and looks to be made of a black Steatite with gold spots of flakes on it. It was broke and reglued by the finder. It came out of a collection from the 4 corners area.
